The most Holy Trinity.

This is THE CORE DOCTRINE of the Roman Catholic and Nazarene faiths. The doctrine of the faith is that the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit are one in substance but not in person. the Father is distinct from the Son and the Son is distinct from the Spirit.  the diagram below is the best way to explain this incomprehensible doctrine.

Emotional chastity.

so this is more of a Catholic thing and that is truly sad. it is the idea that if you share things with people you should not it is equal to promiscuity. so this is a short post, watch what you share and with whom you share it.

Dressed for the service.....

while attending mass tonight I was asked no less than 12 times if I was going to a party after mass or coming from a party because of how I was dressed. I was wearing a black button up shirt, a blue tie, black slacks, and a black vest. this is how I usually dress for church but increasingly I see more people dressed not even how they would for a business would for a business day. why is it so abnormal to dress nicely for the Divine service of the Holy Eucharist. When I got home I was talking to my mum and she said "how many of those people were themselves dressed for the party of Jesus?" this is an interesting way of putting it but.... it is very true. the Holy Mass is the wedding feast of the lamb, in short a wedding party for the church and Christ. the story from the bible that fits this idea best is the story of the wedding garment from the gospel of Matthew 22:1-14. the guest came but not dressed in a way that gave honor to the host, thus he was cast out into outer darkness. are we dressing to honor our host?

Christian unity.

OK so w ll know that I am a huge preponderant of Christian unity, but sadly in the last few years I have learned all of the road blocks for that goal. and in truth one of the main issues is the pastors and priests of Christianity. mark you that not all pastors in th faith are such an issue, in fact my asst pastor also felt strongly about it, but there are those who teach that any denomination outside there own is outside the will and grace of God. this really is a sinful act as shown in 1 Corinthians 4:6. to teach that your denomination alone has the truth of God is to be prideful and assume you know Gods will and mind. The second issue I see is the Christian people them selves. Just this last Sunday I was talking to a woman in my Nazarene church about a visit to a cathedral in Ft Worth, and she said to me "couldn't you have found a Christian church?" I looked at her in confusion and replied "didn't i just say I attended in a mass?" she looked at me a bit annoyed and said "well if you become a Nazarene pastor you cant do that any more, it might look odd." this is not the only experience I have in this area, but it really resounded with me, because it really showed me the depth of this issue. to think that a Nazarene pastor is basically prohibited from attending a mass is unbelievable to me. I wanted to look at he and say "that is insane to me, to think that a pastor can not attend another denomination's services. I just want to know when i missed the memo that we are now serving a different Christ than the Catholic Church, or the Episcopal Church, or even other Evangelical Christians?" when we have such disunity in our faith we lose all credibility to speak on anything in the outside world. I am planning a move to England in January, but before that I am working for a meeting of clergy from around the state of New Mexico to examine how this issue may be resolved. I ask for your prayers for this project.

Chatechisem.... what is that?

ok so as a Roman Catholic as well as a Nazarene I see a great deal of inadequacies of the Nazarene RE system. We tend to skip around in the scriptures too much.. we do not give our young people the opportunity to understand their faith. I believe that to do this we must create a catechism for the Nazarene church that puts our faith in a way that all can understand.

please comment!

I have started this blog for a place to learn, and share. I would love it is you would all comment your thoughts on my posts!

women bishops............ no..

ok so I posted about women pastors/ priests, but did not broch the subject of women bishops... my view is the same on this subject... no... just... no. women can not be the FATHERS of a family. the scriptures say "This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil." these passages are from 1st timothy 3:1-8. all of these verses talk about the positions of men never a women.
